6 DENTAL FACTS TO HELP YOU AVOID EXTRACTIONS!

  1. Brushing Right: It's a Balancing Act: Seriously, there's a sweet spot when it comes to brushing your teeth. Too little and you’re inviting cavities and gum disease; too much leads to, gum recession and tooth wear (yup, it’s a thing and called abrasion!). It's all about brushing effectively, not aggressively.

  2. Know Your Dental Needs: Make sure you know enough about teeth to choose your dentist or dental practice wisely. For example, if you need a root canal, look for a dentist with a special interest in endodontics, or a practice that offers such expertise. It’s like picking the right tool for the job!

  3. Dental Work Isn’t Forever (Unfortunately): Every dental treatment, no matter how brilliantly done, comes with an expiry date. Dive into the longevity details of each treatment. Remember, nothing - no dentist or material - can replace the real deal: your own, natural teeth. They're free, god-given, and unbeatable in form and function.

  4. Five No-Nos for Lifelong Teeth: Here’s the deal – avoid these five to keep your pearly whites for life: plaque, sugar-loaded and acidic food and drinks on an everyday basis, smoking or vaping, and the nighttime teeth-grinding or daytime jaw-clenching or god forbid - both! Trust me, your teeth will thank you.

  5. The Ripple Effect of Losing a Tooth: Losing a tooth isn't just about a gap in your smile. It can hit your wallet, mess with how you talk and eat, knock your confidence, and honestly, it's a whole body and mind thing. Usually, an unreplaced missing tooth leads to other teeth moving /losing support and usually starts an extraction cycle, one after the other.

  6. Oral Health Equals Overall Health: Recent studies in the past decade reveal a crucial link between oral health and general health. Diseases like diabetes, strokes, heart disease, dementia, and Alzheimer's are connected to oral bacteria. Prioritizing oral hygiene isn’t just about dental health; it's a critical step for your entire body's well-being. In every health discussion, I'm committed to highlighting this vital connection – your mouth’s health is a gateway to your overall health. Remember, a healthy mouth contributes significantly to a healthier you.

Remember,  a little know-how and the right habits are half the battle. Keep these tips in mind, they can go a long way in keeping your smile bright and intact for a lifetime.
