WHY DOES RIZ RECOMMEND THIS?

My issues with manual toothbrushes: We are supposed to brush in a circle for 2-3 teeth at a time at a 45-degree angle to the teeth with a manual brush, which is so hard. Most people end up brushing back and forth or up and down, which can cause a lot of issues at the gum line. Most people are not aware that you need to brush gently with a medium toothbrush! and most people are not aware of how strong the BICEPS ARE!!

1. It is well evidenced that an electric toothbrush works much better than a manual toothbrush.
2. It causes gum recession due to the wrong technique - the gums recede due to excess force, which is irreversible.
3. It causes abrasion and sometimes severe abrasion, needing extractions!!!!. The enamel at the gum line is as thin as 0.5- 0.1 mm or even absent in certain people, so this is very delicate and usually comes away easily, forming a notch at the gum line ( plus gum recession ), which then acts like a plaque trap, then dentist tell the patients you are brushing hard. Hence, the patients stop brushing as hard. Thus, these dips start to collect more plaque, and this causes gum disease( which further worsens the) and a horrible vicious cycle, so if you have an abrasion cavity, I advise getting it filled and using an electric toothbrush.
4. It is very difficult to clean the insides of the lower teeth, and more so with a manual brush. They are often missed and cause gum disease.
5. People brush up and down the lower front teeth on the inside, pushing the gum down, causing 'v' shaped notches on the insides of the lower teeth gum, which collects more plaque.

LOL, I hope this list has made you aware of how you brush and the damage it is causing, at least!! I can count on my fingers, even after 20 years, how many people brush efficiently with a manual brush without damaging their teeth and gums!
