The journey of this patient, who had been enduring years of dental issues and self-consciousness about their teeth, is a testament to the transformative power of dental care and the importance of overcoming dental anxiety.

Upon finally deciding to seek dental care when their teeth began to fall out, the initial plan involved extracting most of the remaining teeth, with the exception of the two lower canines. In this process, the patient was provided with an immediate upper full denture and a lower partial denture. Immediate dentures are a temporary solution that is prepared in advance and fitted on the same visit as the extractions, ensuring that the patient doesn't have to go without teeth at any point.

However, there are some compromises associated with immediate dentures. Since they are fitted immediately after extractions, they may not fit as snugly as definitive dentures. Additionally, they tend to become progressively looser as the gums and bone shrink within the first 6 months post-extraction. Therefore, these dentures may require relining as the gums and bone settle into their final positions, and they will eventually need to be replaced with definitive dentures in 6-9 months.

Despite these challenges, it's heartening to hear that the patient was genuinely pleased with the results and the overall journey. This case highlights the importance of providing accessible and compassionate dental care to patients who have been fearful or self-conscious about their dental issues, ultimately improving their oral health and well-being.
