Patient Concern:
A patient came to my clinic unhappy with her two front old crowns. Her main concern was the aesthetic and structural integrity of these crowns that had been in place for many years.
Treatment:
The first step involved removing the old crowns to assess their restorability. Upon examination, it became clear that the upper right central incisor, supported by a failing post and core, required extraction. After a detailed discussion about the available options, the patient opted against a denture or an implant. Instead, she chose a cantilever bridge anchored to her left central incisor, a solution tailored to her specific needs and oral condition.
Outcome:
The cantilever bridge proved to be a very good solution, significantly enhancing the patient's smile aesthetically. As the patient was not a grinder or bruxist, this treatment was deemed appropriate and sustainable for her situation. She was very pleased with the result, noting the improvement in both the look and function of her front teeth. The bridge provided a stable, aesthetically pleasing replacement that met her expectations and comfort requirements.
