Halitosis causes psychological problems for the patient, which is a serious health concern. Health care professionals must acquire sufficient knowledge about the different aspects of halitosis to diagnose and treat patients adequately. Moreover, knowledge about the TC is of utmost importance in distinguishing IOH from other types of halitosis. Additionally, the diagnostic importance of the tongue might not be negligible in relation to diseases. In this respect, it is of paramount importance to examine both hard and soft tissues in the oral cavity.
