The global increase in dental caries. A pending public health crisis

A current review of the available epidemiological data from many countries clearly indicates that there is a marked increase in the prevalence of dental caries. If remedies are not initiated, there could be a serious negative impact upon the future oral health (and systemic health) of the global community, as well as a strain on the dental profession and a major increase in the cost of dental services
