Nursing bottle caries' in breast-fed children.

Reports are presented of 3 cases in which exclusively breast-fed infants developed nursing bottle-type caries.

In each case, solid foods were started at 6 months and a bottle was never used.
2 of the infants slept with the mother at night, nursing at will, while the 3rd nursed at bedtime and usually twice during the night.

Elimination of nocturnal feeding in infants more than 12 months old is recommended.
