Conclusion :
An Article on washinton post about how a child suffered sever brain damage and then subsequently lost his life from a dental tooth infcetion.I have seen time and again that dentist/governing bodies are somehow blamed for any inaction by the whole society as a whole.
My argument is that althought it was because the child did not have insurance to see a dentist , and in difficulty in theavailability of a dentist - the other major contributing factor for caries is being ignore here.
1. CARIES OR TOOTH DECAY IS PREVENTABLE -PREVENTION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF DECAY CONTROL .
2. CHILDREN NEED TO HAVE TWICE A YEARLY HIGH FLOURIDE VARNISH APPLICATION
3.CARIES AND CAVITIES ARE NOT SELF LIMITING / SELF TREATING
If any pain on teeth it needs to be addressed unlike other infections in the body that can be cleared by antibiotics and no action - Tooth decay is an infection that needs active treatment the decay needs to be removed physically and filled , so the bacteria does not get a chance to stay in a cave they make as a protection and produce toxins enough to kill the tooth and also the cavity need to be filled to avoid teh spread of these bacteria to adjacent teeth and sites to cause more decay.
Caries happens only in mouth that has plaque and sugar - so it was the parents role to brush the childs teeth and teach him to brush the teeth well , and to avoid sugary food to the best ability and use a flouride toothpaste . It is also important that the council who do not provide water flouridation , as people who are protesting about 'toxic' dont really understand , that even the best things like water if consumed too much can lead to drowing !!
